A special thank you to Morgan, who groomed the horses AND drove the RV, her first, the 340 miles to Newberry. Thanks to her we had a home-away-from-home, where we relaxed and enjoyed the excellent dinners prepared expertly --- and in record time --- by Cindy. Thank you both! We had plenty of time for warmups on Friday, but had start early or else dodge the thunder, lightning and raindrops! Cindy on Jaimsie [L] and Panache [below]
Since Cindy was debuting Jaimsie [below] at Third Level Test 1, we took exceptional care to brief her [Jaimsie, that is] on her future workplace. What we neglected to do was brief her thoroughly on all the other places that could conceivably occupy her attention. As a result, she was a bundle of nervous tension for her Saturday test. Once she was thoroughly acquainted with Canterbury's ups and downs and strategically-placed obstacles, though, Jaimsie performed a significantly more relaxed test Sunday -- despite the fog and rolling thunder!
The stars of the show were Jodie and Pallas, shown below, who scored 60+% on both First Level Test 4 and Second Level Test 1. Jodie skillfully marshalled Pallas' considerable energy, producing consistent cadences even during the lengthenings. Well done, Jodie!
