The working student will learn how to maximize the performance, health, and well-being of the working horse. Duties include: schooling and/or training horses (at Cindy Thaxton's discretion); cleaning a minimum of 6 stalls six days a week; grooming and tacking a maximum of 12 horses; feeding duties between 1 and 3 times per week; and daily cleaning.
The position will provide the student with a solid foundation in horse training and management. The work is challenging, but the atmosphere at High Point is always friendly and supportive.
The position of working student includes 1/2 of a 900 square foot apartment, partial board for a horse (or we provide one), and one private lesson with Cindy Thaxton per week.
