2025 Summer Schools Weeks - It's that time already!


Summer camp time! We are excited to offer several sessions over the summer for riders of all levels. Early Bird Special until April 1st so register now!!

Call Alex at 770-868-6049 or email at athaxton13hpf@gmail.com for more information and questions!SESSION LEVELS and DEFINITIONS:BEGINNER: never ridden - canters a littleNOVICE: steers at canter - jumps up to 18"ADVANCED: schooling 18" courses and upADULT: 21 and over riders (minimally must be proficient at walk and trot)QUADRILLE: 4 riders at a time will practice and perform a single dressage test (performed on the last day of the session); we will have a "novice" group option, where the test will only be walk and trot, and an "intermediate" group option, where the test will include canterSESSION DATES:

June 9-12: HPHW #1, Show Prep / Combined Training Week (dressage OR hunter riders are welcome, but MUST be able to steer at the canter, minimally)...........$300 

June 16-19: HPHW #2, Quadrille Week, Novice / Advanced........$200

 

June 23-27: HPHW #3, Beginner / Novice Week, AGES 6-10..........$350

 

June 30 - July 2: HPHW #4, Adult Horse Week (5-8pm), Novice / Advanced.........$275

 

July 7-9: HPHW #5, Horsemanship and Equine Management mini week (must be able to steer at the trot in order to participate)..........$200

 

July 14-18: HPHW #6, Beginner/Novice Week, AGES 10-15........$350

 

************SESSION SPECIFIC INFORMATION BELOW****************

BEGINNER/NOVICE WEEKS (M-F, 9am-2pm):

ALL STUDENTS SHOULD BRING

- Sack Lunch- Riding Helmet if you own one; if not, a public one will be provided- Water Bottle- Sunscreen- Clean white t-shirt to tie-dye on Monday

- Swimsuit and towel Wednesday and Thursday for water games

ALL STUDENTS SHOULD WEAR- Long pants or breeches- Boots or shoes with at least a half-inch heel (cowboy boots work great for the beginner/novice sessions, unless they already have paddock boots) kids may NOT ride in sneakers- Shorts and light clothing may be worn after horse activities conclude (recommended); closed-toe shoes are preferred

Each day begins at 9:00am.  Please be 15 minutes early on the first day so we can take care of registration.  You may pick your student up between 2:00-2:30pm at the end of each day.  There will be a $25 fee per day for students picked up after 3:00pm.

Friday at 1:00, parents are invited to come watch "pony games," which will exhibit skills that the riders will learn throughout the week, in a fun and competitive format

QUADRILLE WEEK (M-TH, 12-4pm):

- Participants MUST be able to steer at the trot in order to register for this week!

- Students should wear paddock boots and half chaps, if they are not already wearing tall boots

- Part of this week will be more of a "classroom" setting as the riders design their own group pattern to ride; they will then choose music to ride the pattern to

- If we have enough participants, we will divide the riders into 2 teams, and will have 2 different Quadrille performances on Thursday

- Thursday 3:00pm Quadrille Week, the students will perform the quadrille that they will have practiced all week.  Parents are encouraged to attend the quadrille performance!

Show Prep / Combined Training Week (M-TU 12-4pm; W 9am-dark; TH 7am-12pm)

- Students MUST be able to steer at the canter, minimally, in order to participate in this week

- Students should wear paddock boots and half chaps, if they are not already wearing tall boots

- NEW THIS YEAR: Wednesday will be a GDCTA (dressage and jumping) horse show, with an actual judge.  As part of this Horse Week, participants will be required to help put on the show, and MAY PARTICIPATE in the show as well, but will have to pay for their entries; there will not be a charge for horse use if not leasing, NOR will Horse Week participants pay for coaching

- Wednesday night after the show will be a cookout and sleepover at the barn; participants should bring tents/sleeping bags/hammocks (whatever they want to sleep in) on Wednesday when they are dropped off for the day

- Thursday morning, we will do field riding and a trail ride before pick-up at 12:00pm

- THURSDAY 12:00pm will be an IEA Parent Informational Meeting, for BOTH dressage AND huntseat!

Adult Horse Week (M-W, 5-8pm)

- Each evening will conclude with light dinner and drinks

- Participants will learn a dressage test of their choosing (with guidance), and will then choose a song they would like to perform the dressage test to

- Wednesday 6:00pm performance; families are welcome to attend and watch!

- Cost includes T-shirt, food, drinks

- If this week has higher temperatures, we will relocate the whole thing to the indoor arena; we will make that decision the weekend before

Horsemanship / Equine Management mini week (M-W, 12-4pm)

- This week will focus on different aspects of horsemanship and equine management (nutrition, first aid, etc)

- We will ride some, but not every day; if we do ride, however, participants MUST be able to steer at the trot, minimally, as this week does not focus on riding

The remaining amount due is to be brought via cash, venmo, or check on the first day of session, as well as this completed waiver for High Point, if you don't have a recent one on file with us already.


EARLY BIRD DISCOUNT: $50 OFF if you register before April 1 for June sessions, or before May 1 for July sessions.

 

SIBLING DISCOUNT: $50 OFF for each additional child.
